Our client is looking to hire an Area Sales Manager that is able to work remotely and would travel approximately 50% of the time. They will be responsible for maintaining the required standards of quality within relevant legal and operational framework. Despite being able to work independently, it is necessary for the incumbent to form partnerships with other sections, departments and groups, creating trust-based relationships that will facilitate success.
**Candidates preferred in the following states: Arizona, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming**
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The ASM will have split focus on regional customers (Projects, Aftermarket and Spare Parts), selling to Mining EPCMs, OEMs and Mines.
- The ASM will be responsible for developing an overview of the installed base and will be the most knowledgeable person on the region’s opportunities through knowledge of decision makers and creation of strong customer/supplier relationships. Under the guidance of the line manager, this knowledge and relationships will enable him/her to craft sales strategy that will deliver growth in business and profitability.
- The ASM actively visits customers in offices and plants to accurately ascertain their challenges, needs and expectations
- The ASM will identify suitable opportunities and develop technical and commercial offers in collaboration with the proposals group and will present them to the customer and negotiate orders.
- All opportunities will be recorded, tracked and updated in CRM by the ASM. He/she will use the CRM to generate monthly sales reports providing hot lists, opportunity volumes, and orders won and lost for submission to the line manager.
- The ASM will provide input into sales budgets and be responsible for meeting sales targets set in collaboration with line manager.
- The ASM is responsible for identifying new business opportunities and market adjustments that will identify new product development opportunities based on market attractiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience) and 5 years of experience selling power transmission products into the Mining Industry
- Deep knowledge of Mining Industry and the Purchasing Culture of the industry
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write). The ability to communicate in Spanish will be considered an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and able to communicate at all levels within an organization
- Presentation skills and confidence to present to large groups of people
- Experience in selling large gears and mechanical drive technology
- Ability to conduct basic mechanical troubleshooting on gearing.
- Existing contacts in the Mining Industry
- Outgoing personality and enjoys networking and meeting new people and different cultures.
- Availability and willingness to travel approximately 45% of the time, including occasional international travel and to remote areas where mines are often located.
- A valid Driver’s License and Passport
- Good physical health with ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and lift weight of up to 35 lbs. (16 kgs).
- Competency with Microsoft Office. Previous experience with Microsoft CRM will be considered an advantage.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
