This position requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with diverse teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management
- Lead water and wastewater engineering projects from initial design through construction and commissioning.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; monitor progress to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
- Prepare and present project proposals, progress reports, and technical documentation for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve project issues and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Design and analyze water and wastewater treatment systems, including facilities, pumping stations, and collection/distribution systems.
- Conduct hydraulic modeling and process simulations to enhance system performance.
- Carry out feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments; prepare comprehensive technical reports and recommendations.
- Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and design documents.
- Ensure all engineering designs adhere to local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in environmental laws and best practices related to water and wastewater management.
- Prepare and submit permit applications, coordinating with regulatory agencies to secure necessary approvals.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges and professional growth.
- Lead internal technical meetings and share best practices within the team.
- Promote a collaborative work environment, emphasizing safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community representatives.
- Address client concerns and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify new business opportunities and support business development initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of professional experience in water/wastewater engineering with increasing responsibilities.
- Proven experience managing projects and leading engineering teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; additional certifications (e.g., PMP) are advantageous.
- Technical: Expertise in water and wastewater treatment technologies and environmental regulations.
- Project Management: Strong skills in scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for documentation, client interactions, and presentations.
- Leadership: Ability to mentor and manage cross-functional teams effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Advanced analytical skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
- Occasional fieldwork may be required, including site inspections and visits to treatment facilities and construction sites.
- Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines or attend client and regulatory meetings.
