What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at PEAK Technical Staffing USA?
- In need of an Operations specialist/Manager for a direct hire opportunity at our customer that does breaking of RR cars, drop balling and heavy torching as their primary functions.
- The long time General Manager has grown up there and is responsible for the operations, maintenance and some of the commercial buying and selling.
- We are looking to put a #2 person in the operation to learn from and eventually replace the GM. So there will be a transition period of 1-3 years where the person will be able to learn the business.
- We are looking for someone with more of an operations background, not a commercial (buy/sell) background. Someone that has a maintenance background may also be useful – but will need to be able to understand operations. We are looking for someone with more 'hands-on' experience than 'office' experience.
- Obviously, someone that is willing to live and work in the Youngstown, OH region is critical. So, while relocation is possible, we are also not looking for someone that is willing to spend a year there and move on to something warmer or flashier.
- There will have to be a good chemistry fit with the GM. So, we will likely have a preliminary phone interview with our GM scheduled, and then an onsite meeting with more individuals involved, including myself in Youngstown.
- the person must have Scrap Metal processing experience – or something close to it. There are certainly some close industries where some cross over might be possible – Steel Mills, Slag Processors, Quarry & Aggregate Industry, and possibly Mobile Equipment maintenance backgrounds are some we've seen before. But making this connection will be important.
