The Director, Safety, Quality and Training (SQT) is an integral position that provides strategic and tactical leadership, direction, implementation and maintenance of programs and controls for SQT throughout the organization. This includes organizational compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate health and safety regulations/requirements. Manages SQT process improvements and provides leadership at employee safety meetings.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Manages all SQT performance tracking and legal compliance
- Assists with new employee activities regarding on-boarding related to SQT
- Analyzes data and performance metrics to identify and capitalized on trends
- Provides proactive recommendations to prevent incidents and injuries and drives continuous improvement
- Provides concise visual dashboards and communication
- Drives the improvement of OSHA total recordable incident rate (TRIR), days away, restricted, transferred (DAET) rate, vehicle accident rate, and Experience Modification Rate (EMR)
- Maintains and reports OSHA 300 logs
- Reviews and reports data through required compliance entities, such as ISNetworld, Avetta, Gold Shovel Standard (GSS), National Compliance Management Service (NCMS), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and others
- Develops, implements, reviews, updates, and administers SQT programs, training requirements, Quality Assurance, SOPs, and policies to drive continuous improvement and promotes culture consistent with company values
- Partners with department General Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, and Human Resources to ensure that proper programs are implemented
- Oversees investigation of damages, accidents and injuries and assist in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, litigation, and insurance investigations
- Oversees insurance claims, workers’ compensation, general liability and auto programs
- Oversees worker reinstatement and alternative assignment practices (light duty)
- Responds to personnel inquires regarding safety issues for the purpose of investigating, determining root cause and/or corrective measure recommendations
- Leads quarterly safety program review and All Hands safety meetings
- Leads the dissemination of weekly toolbox meeting materials and presentation of appropriate monthly All Hands safety topics
- Represents company with clients, carriers, regulatory agencies, and the public in safety, health and risk matters
- Prepares and responds to existing and potential client requests of Safety qualifications
- Assists with integrating the organization’s strategic business goals and action items
- Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
- Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous material or practices in the workplace
- Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Working knowledge of safety management software, such as SiteDocs and Safesite
- Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
- Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA Standards and Federal Safety Legislation
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Safety, or a similar field
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Safety Director or Manager
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
- Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
