Position Summary
Pearce Services is seeking a skilled OSP Engineer responsible for Telecommunications Outside Plant Engineering in a local service exchange environment. This position works as a team member with OSP Engineering, which supports FTTH, Network Planning, Central Office, Transport, and Broadband to support the growth, replacements, and upgrade of telecommunications plant facilities.

Position Summary
Pearce Services is seeking a skilled OSP Engineer responsible for Telecommunications Outside Plant Engineering in a local service exchange environment. This position works as a team member with OSP Engineering, which supports FTTH, Network Planning, Central Office, Transport, and Broadband to support the growth, replacements, and upgrade of telecommunications plant facilities.
DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES
- Field/Design OSP BAU Work Orders to include entrance cables, ethernet, small road move projects, aerial work, and permitting.
- Work with State/Local/Federal DOT and the various Utilities to plan the necessary Telecom Relocation Plan. Working with DOT schematics, visit the “field,” document the current telecom facilities, and design the “solution” plan in concert with the DOT Plans.
- Work with Lumen Communication’s Planning, Right of Way, Construction, and Central Office Teams to coordinate project design/implementation.
- Local travel will be required. Pearce to reimburse mileage expense.
- Capable of managing their workload and prioritizing multiple field engineering assignments
- Work with Lumen FOSP Planning, Construction, Project Management as needed
- Meet and communicate with developers at construction sites, customers, etc.
- I have 3- 5 years of experience in copper and fiber optic/telecommunications/telecom engineering and broadband design (ethernet).
- Design building/entrance cable, etc.
- Knowledge of outside plant activities (Copper and Fiber Cable Design; Aerial/Pole Line, Buried and Underground Design/Construction)
- Proven ability to read and understand DOT schematics, identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, and select routing of lines and equipment required for projects.
- Knowledge permitting with state and local municipalities.
- Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
- Ability to resolve problems following standard practices, using judgment within defined policies and guidelines
- Knowledge of General City, County, State, and road move design application processes is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High School Diploma and or equivalent work experience
- OSP Telecom Construction experience
- Lumen's preferred
- Preferred location West Coast
