About this Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Telecommunications Field Specialist. As a Field Collector, you will provide supportive engineering services through a highly detailed collection of telecommunications information from the job site. This position requires a working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of fiber networks.
You will be responsible for in-person validation of the existing field design and layout of the OSP telecommunications network to include aerial, buried, and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities.
Core Responsibilities:
- Facilitate accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, utility structures, and distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities to centerlines, property lines, and curb lines
- Capture high-quality photographs of required facilities, including cables, poles, terminals, pedestals, handholes, and other outside plant infrastructure
- Deliver detailed field notes and photographs to the engineering team
- Provide proposed mitigation strategy for relevant obstructions to fiber placement
- Utilize digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings to inform decision-making
Requirements
- Experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry (2 years)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of outside plant activities, including Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design, and Make-ready issues
- Able to read and understand as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (a plus)
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
