Summary
Job Description: Service Technician
The Service Technician will perform all related service work and install propane, refined fuel, and lubricant systems. Additionally, this position will install equipment at company and customer locations and complete work orders and inventory cycle counts as directed. This technician will assist in attaining assigned goals for safety, installations, and training. Ensuring safety standards are met, which comply with all company, local, city, state, and federal guidelines, is of the utmost importance for this position.
Duties:
- Provide prompt and efficient service to all customers, including installation of tanks (propane, refined fuel, and lubricant) and service of existing equipment and systems.
- Work individually or as part of a crew during construction or installation of any petroleum, propane, or associated equipment at company and customer locations.
- Conduct service work as scheduled, including after-hours emergency service.
- Clean and maintain equipment assigned to the position.
- Perform work in a safe manner at all times according to company safety procedures.
- Ensure all “out of gas” calls are handled according to the company’s procedures.
- Provide the home office with the required information and records on a timely basis.
- Inspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to ensure safe, dependable operations.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system and equipment issues assigned.
- Maintain inventory of fuel-related and non-fuel-related parts and equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed.
- Ensure all customer documentation is accurately completed, including service documentation, credit applications, propane tank leases, and transfers.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipment.
- Assist the plant manager in establishing all eligible customers as members.
- Deliver refined fuel and propane products as needed and assigned.
- Identify and timely communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs, and customer needs, questions, or concerns.
- Communicate any necessary changes and/or issues directly to the supervisor.
- Safely operate vehicles according to PCE Energy policies and guidelines, state and federal transportation laws, and other related regulations.
- Properly use handheld systems as needed.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to the supervisor, as well as maintaining the truck in a neat and clean condition.
- Be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by the company.
- Present a positive image of PCE Energy to the community and be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by the company.
- Support and understand company policies and procedures and communicate those to customers as needed.
- Follow the posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked.
- All PCE Energy employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position-specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- On-call 24/7, especially during the heating season.
- Class B CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsements obtained within 6 months of employment.
- CTEP/IPGA Certified within the specified time by the supervisor.
- Basic hand tools to complete the job provided on your own.
- Self-starter and able to be self-sufficient in unsupervised settings.
- Out-of-gas calls are handled according to company and national procedures.
Skills:
- Experience with plumbing and pipefitting.
Job Type: Full-time (10-hour shifts)
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour, based on experience.
