Join our Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum Team : We are seeking an experienced Aviation Pathways Senior Manager for our A & P Program.

Job Summary :

The Sr. Manager, Aviation Pathways A & P Program (Sr. Manager) will work to bring process and clarity to the Museum’s vision for an Aviation Pathway A&P Program – introduction of a high school A&P program, designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the aircraft maintenance profession. The Sr. Manager will build out and execute a project plan to implement the A&P program, setting benchmarks and initiating collaborations with education, industry, aviation and youth organizations as determined necessary.

The Sr. Manager will serve as a spokesperson for the A&P program vision and work collaboratively with the Museum Education and Development / Philanthropic Services Departments and associated Board Leadership / Committees to maximize Museum resources. The Sr. Manager will serve as the Museum’s expert, mapping the training program process and procedures to ensure the following :

  • DOE requirements governing the establishment of an elective curriculum option for high school students are met (ensuring completion of all general education requirements for graduation).
  • FAA requirements that will lead to attainment of an A&P license upon graduation are met on the timeline confirmed.

The Sr. Manager will support Board and Staff efforts to secure the resources needed – financial and in-kind – to acquire program facilities, equipment and resources that support and sustain program launch and operations, developing schedules that facilitate participation and collaborations that foster success.

Key Responsibilities :

Manages all aspects of the Aviation Pathways A&P program at the Museum, to include :

  • Works with Museum leadership to support resource development as outlined to support A&P program launch and operations.
  • Collaborates with DOE and A&P curriculum provider, to establish processes and procedures that fulfill all mandatory requirements.
  • Leads and develops a team of instructors, which includes recruiting, onboarding, and training.
  • Manages resources and ensures compliance with all requirements – location, curriculum, instructors – necessary to initiate the Pathways A&P program :
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and course syllabi.
  • Supervises implementation and update of training programs / lesson materials.
  • Oversees, assesses, supports instructional methods that address individual student learning needs.
  • Ensures preparedness of instructors and students, conducts self-study and research in courses (remedial and subject specific) and supervises execution to ensure classroom and performance excellence.
  • Coordinates with West Mec on all instructional procedures and materials, developing open communications to address compliance - prepares classroom with audio-visual aids to include virtual delivery (e.g. presenting online for remote learners as needed) and supports positive classroom and learning environment.
  • Identifies, considers, reviews, and develops process and procedures for student recruitment and management.
  • Collaboration with community, state, and national resources to support the Aviation Pathway A&P program, including but not limited to :
  • West Mec aviation high school as provider of curriculum and pathway to FAA A&P license.
  • Department of Education (DOE), and other formal education programs that align.
  • Industry partners – airlines, aircraft manufacturers (Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop, other), Work Force Development Council (Hawaii).
  • In collaboration with Museum departments, provides leadership and support in the following areas :
  • Fundraising, grant development and tracking.
  • Donor communications and reporting.
  • Supports the Marketing and Communications to both foster awareness, participation and understanding of our educational offerings and to enrich engagement.
  • Provides data points to support decision making related both to securing and allocating funding.
  • Supports Museum-wide programming and events.
  • Qualifications

  • College Degree or completion of approved certificate program.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students in a formal or informal setting.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A & P) license or equivalent experience.
  • Two (2) years of practical experience on both Airframe & Powerplant.
  • Three (3) years of experience with presenting technical information.
  • Computer proficiency and experience in MS Office Suite with the ability to construct engaging and comprehensive PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team / team player.
  • Ability to take initiative and work creatively.
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse range of contacts.
  • Display a willingness for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Required medical clearance, base clearance, and background check clearance and all other pre-employment clearance requirements for this position.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • DOE certification.
  • Experience in a commercial aviation maintenance environment.
  • Experience teaching students in a formal classroom setting.
  • Experience teaching students in an operational environment with real-time event or scenario-based event requirements and settings.
  • Additional Skills, Abilities, Experience :

    Aviation, Education, Experience and Skill : Undergraduate degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university required; aviation training and certification preferred. Teaching or group leadership experience required, with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in education, aviation, leadership.

    Communication Skills : Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

    Interpersonal Skills : Use considerable initiative, creativity, judgment, problem-solving skills while working under executive direction. Requires being able to deal with difficult, challenging people or situations involving complex issues; and establishing and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships.

    Technical / equipment Skills : Proficient in Windows computing environments, data management software, Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk / work station and working at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
  • Compensation / Benefits :

    Compensation : Pay Range starting $70,000 annually, commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of experience in the field / area / position, and other organizational needs.
