Summary / Objective

The Markets Operations Assistants are ambassadors to Pearl. The Markets Operations Assistants are accountable for maintaining a safe, enjoyable Markets experience that drives guest traffic and enables Pearl to attract and retain the best makers, producers and artists.

Essential Functions

Market Setup / Vendor Support :

  • Assist with setting up signage, tables, tents, and other necessary equipment at the start of market days.
  • Communicate with vendors before and during market days to ensure they have everything they need.
  • Accountable for successful vendor setup to include resolution of issues of setup / tear down that arise and ensure that all vendors comply with market regulations, health and safety standards, and guidelines.
  • Break-down after market hours, ensuring all equipment is properly stored and vendors pack up efficiently.

Hospitality :

  • Greet customers and provide information about the market, vendor products, and upcoming events.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Staff information and merchandise booth to promote a positive and welcoming atmosphere for market visitors (answering customer questions, replenishing merchandise, water and maps)
  • Inventory and Supplies Management :

  • Ensure market supplies are well-organized and properly maintained; submit requests for replacement of damaged or missing items (e.g., signage, tables, tents, etc.).
  • Event Coordination and Promotion :

  • Support the marketing and promotional efforts of the market by helping with social media content, flyers, and local outreach.
  • Assist in planning and organizing special events, performances, or activities to engage customers and promote the market.
  • Administrative Tasks :

  • Assist with reporting, data entry, and tracking sales, attendance, and other metrics
  • Competencies

    Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment and handle physical tasks (lifting, setting up displays, etc.) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends; minimum 16 hours per week.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous events operations a plus.
  • Knowledge of local food, sustainability, and community engagement
  • Previous experience working in retail, customer service, or event coordination is preferred
  • Familiarity with basic computer programs (email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and social media platforms
