Pearl Street Systems’ Motor & Drives group is a distributor of high-efficiency motors and variable frequency drives that specializes in developing and implementing cost-effective Energy Conservation Opportunities (ECOs) for HVAC system fans and pumps. The projects are backed by real-world testing to diagnose and prescribe these ECOs and ultimately validate savings through M&V (measurement and verification). ECOs can range from no / low costs to capital-intensive projects and often include the installation of high-efficiency motors, variable frequency drives, fan belt drive upgrades, etc. Our approach offers single-source accountability from survey to implementation and verification of savings.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will conduct site surveys, develop ECOs, execute performance tests of air handler units and pumps, perform energy savings calculations, and write reports. Must have a working knowledge of commercial / industrial HVAC fans and pumps, distribution systems, and controls. Must have sound technical, communication, and leadership skills to present findings to the client and ensure customer / client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead project planning and scheduling and assist with motor / drive installations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and sales, to ensure projects meet customer specifications and company standards.
Conduct on-site evaluations to assess project requirements, including site conditions, equipment needs, and installation constraints.
Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and internal goals.
Maintain clear and proactive communication with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during project implementation.
Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
5 years of experience in project engineering or project management, preferably in the mechanical, electrical, or energy industry.
Strong technical expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering systems with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and energy efficiency measures.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is a plus.
