JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of each job site’s lead, the AV Installation Technician contributes to the growth and overall success of Pearl Technology by effectively performing the physical installation of audiovisual and other product offerings following organizational standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently pulls multiple wire types to the correct location, according to design/drawings, without damaging cables, exceeding conduit fill or bend radius, while conforming to naming standards.
- Safely rig devices in space, adhering to published safety factors and recommended rigging structures.
- Accurately terminates cables with the correct connector, and selects and uses the correct connector and tools for each type.
- Builds racks; loads gear/brings cable into a rack, dresses cabling neatly, adheres to signal separation and pays mind to ergonomics and heat dissipation.
- Designs, tunes, and tests MATV systems from head end to output using meters and test tools.
- Sends video for presentation, including an understanding of signal types, resolutions, different transport methods, and troubleshooting techniques required.
- Installs displays and calibrates video image/settings.
- Installs projectors and screens in space/on a surface, paying attention to plug level, and square.
- Records audio/video signals at different resolutions/levels, applying an understanding of the software/hardware associated.
- Verifies performance by testing all aspects of an AV system to ensure the final deliverable meets project and industry standards. This includes final configuration and adjustments.
- Communicates with all networked devices in a system in multiple topologies.
- Troubleshoots by identifying and solving issues causing systems to perform under their intended design.
- Uses control equipment to remotely use external devices- includes the understanding of software, hardware, and protocols.
- Meets with stakeholders, identify their needs, and communicate effectively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification(s) and License(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CTS is strongly preferred within six (6) months of assuming the role; required to be considered for advancement to higher-level technician roles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competency Requirements:
· Intermediate skills/experience with wire-pulling, terminating cables, and rigging.
· Basic IT knowledge (e.g., IP address recognition, ability to follow direction to adjust software).
· Ability to effectively multi-task, frequently switching between job projects, tasks, and/or redirecting without notice.
· Ability to learn quickly, with the desire and initiative to attain knowledge beneficial to improving performance and/or gaining industry knowledge.
· Organized with attention to detail.
· Solution-focused and able to apply reasonable logic to troubleshoot and resolve issues or make recommendations to appropriate personnel regarding system performance.
· Ability to manage time effectively and sustain productivity with little or no supervision.
· Ability to complete and/or pass manufacturer training, as required.

- Ability to move or transport and install audiovisual and related equipment up to 50 pounds, independently, regularly.
- Operates hand and power tools regularly.
- Ascends/descends ladders regularly; works atop scaffolding and/or lifts, occasionally.
- Positions self in confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces, occasionally.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Travel locally/regionally up to 90%, and nationally or internationally, seldom (up to 10%); overnight lodging may be required for jobs with distances exceeding two hours of work office; ability to drive to and from job sites, meetings, networking events, and training.
