What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Manager position at Pearson?

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the development and execution of meetings, events and tradeshows that support company and divisional initiatives; recommends appropriate messages and tactics throughout the process.
  • Communicates proactively to all levels of management and stakeholders.
  • Champions meeting & event strategies throughout the organization.
  • Produces meetings & events ensuring consistency and collaboration while following established guidelines, processes, and tools. Educates cross functional teams, provides direction, and establishes solutions where appropriate.
  • Fosters strong relationships with key customers, both internal and external.
  • Participates in and facilitates project teams cross functionally.
  • Partners with and manages vendors to ensure that initiatives meet objectives.
  • Directs and initiates solutions in support of continuous improvement.
  • Defines, tracks, and maintains budgets. Ensures cost savings.
  • Measures & spending within allocated amount. Tracks in expense log analyzes spending and provides recommendations plans for continuous improvement.
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge of meetings, events, and tradeshow industry trends and best- in-class practices as related to responsibilities.
  • Manage and ensure consistency in the Pearson brand.
  • Identify, partner with, and manage appropriate resources (i.e., vendor relationships, other internal departments, etc.) to ensure that meetings/events meet objectives.
  • Manage and executes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the events, conferences or other marketing-related field required
  • Experience planning and facilitating successful virtual and in-person events required Knowledge with audio visual and technology
  • Outstanding organizational, written, communication, interpersonal, production, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and manage relationships with stakeholders including staff, authors, keynote speakers, and executive level decision makers
  • Ability to remain calm in a high-pressure, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving and technical skills
  • Creative, curious, and unafraid to share new ideas and initiatives
  • Must be willing to travel based on company needs and policies
