What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter/Sandblaster position at PEBCO Inc?
Position Summary:
Grinds, cleans, sands, drills, taps, paints, sandblasts, cuts, nails, screws, fits-up, assembles, inspects, packages, and loads materials/components/products.
Functions/Responsibilities:
- Grind, sandblast, clean, and paint materials/components/products per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
- Properly assembles equipment including gates and components per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
- Drills, taps, and fits-up materials/components/products per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
- Determines proper material layout, including hydraulic hosing; air hosing; and electrical wiring and junction boxes per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
- Inspects and operates finished components/products, including gates/valves to ensure conformance with specifications and quality requirements; completes product inspection list.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of paint & paint related materials, and sandblast related materials.
- Lays out, cuts and installs gate seals and seal retainers per blueprints/job specifications within quality standards and allotted routing time.
- Assists/fills in for other employees/departments as needed.
- Performs general maintenance on equipment, including sharpening tools; performs general shop and equipment clean up keeping work area orderly.
- Lifts, loads, sorts, and moves materials, supplies, and products between storage, work areas, etc. safely using push cars, hoist, dolly, forklift, overhead crane, etc; properly packages/crates equipment and loads trucks with finished products.
- Runs errands, picks up supplies/equipment, etc. and performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
- Mechanically inclined with blueprint reading skills including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical applications.
- Ability to use all types of hand tools, competency with power tools and machinery common to fabrication work (e.g. drills, taps, grinders, etc.).
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- Ability to identify and solve problems utilizing own knowledge as well as printed material.
- Must have adequate math skills.
- Proficient in paint spraying booth and sandblast skills.
