What are the responsibilities and job description for the Draft Person position at Peckham Industries?
The entry-level Precast Draft Person will support the precast operations team by creating and revising technical drawings and documentation for precast concrete projects.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual who is eager to develop their drafting skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Under limited supervision, this individual is responsible for creating production tickets utilizing Precast Software that is used to manufacture precast/prestressed concreate products.
Essential Functions:
- Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings of precast concrete components using CAD software.
- Interpret architectural and structural blueprints to produce accurate shop drawings.
- Evaluate and ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and company guidelines.
- Maintain organized records of drawings and related documentation.
- Prepare and revise submittals for project approval.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
- Respond to design changes or requests for revisions in a timely manner.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support production teams with clear and concise drawings to facilitate efficient manufacturing.
Requirements, Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory, with experience in Revit or SolidWorks considered a plus.
- Knowledge of drafting standards, techniques, and the ability to interpret technical documents, models, and assemblies is essential.
- A minimum of two years of experience in the precast industry or a comparable manufacturing background with a focus on prefabricated assemblies is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing precise and accurate drawings.
- Ability and willingness to learn various construction techniques used in fabrication.
- Experience with Bill of Material management, database integration, and end-user requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with writing shop instructions and text procedures is beneficial.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills are required.
- A self-starter attitude with a strong eagerness to learn and a goal-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
- Reliable transportation and legal authorization to work in the U.S. are mandatory.

Travel:
Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.
