Job Summary
The paid internship program at Peckham Industries is designed to provide practical experience in your field of study while integrating you into our family-by-choice culture. As a Safety Intern, you will assist and support our Safety Team with essential projects, gaining valuable experience for your future career.
Key tasks and projects include reviewing and updating our safety program, LOTO procedures, and SDS online products inventory. You will also create standard SOPs adaptable to specific locations and help develop electronic surveys and site-specific/hazard online training. Additionally, you will gain experience in road construction, quarry, and plant field assessments.
Majors applicable to this internship opportunity include students working towards a bachelor's degree in safety and occupational health disciplines or other relevant majors.

Requirements, Education and Experience
Excellent attendance and punctuality are required for the program, which is scheduled to run ten weeks from June 2, 2025, to August 8, 2025. However, dates can be customized according to your needs and those of your school.
You are responsible for your own housing and reliable transportation. Strict adherence to all safety protocols, OSHA safety rules, and regulations is expected.
Current enrollment at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 or higher GPA is required. Successful submission of our online application, including a cover letter, resume, and written recommendation, is also necessary.
Proficient written and verbal English communication skills are essential, as well as the legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel
Position may require up to 25-35% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York and New England based on the needs of the business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work environment is dependent upon internship placement and may operate in a professional office or physical work environment. The professional work environment is mostly sedentary, outside of travel.
Some internships may involve heavy work, including heavy lifting, working near moving mechanical parts, and loud equipment, as well as the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
