Position Summary
DISTRIBUTION DESIGNER : This position is responsible for the design of residential, commercial, industrial, overhead and underground electric distribution facilities. POLE CONTACT DESIGNER : This position requires advanced understanding and demonstrated ability to apply engineering fundamentals, utility policy and procedures to process requests for Joint Use of the Cooperative’s facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring safety and reliability for Joint Use entities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
DISTRIBUTION DESIGNER :
Meet with members, developers and contractors, consultants, and government entities to discuss the process and procedures for supplying electric power. Meet as required to completion of distribution projects.Research, acquire record, prepare, and verify required overhead or URD easements.Notarize easements as necessary per customer request.Research to ensure customer deed information is correct and up dated.Check ROW easements. Obtain ROW permits if called for.Obtain road crossing permits.Assess load requirements to size correct transformer. Notify warehouse of material / transformer requirements.Notify Meter shop of CT or Trans Socket requirements.Read and interpret blue prints and specifications.Create designs and materials lists for overhead and underground distribution facilitiesReview as builds. Correct as needed.Edit GIS to ensure accuracy and connectivity.Draw new distribution facilities within the Global Information SystemCall locates to insure equipment can be installed at location.Request vegetation clearing or trimming from Vegetation Maintenance Department.Investigate customer complaints. Determine problem and recommend solution(s).Send joint use lettersInspect Overhead and URD line extensions.Prepare cost estimates for new line extensions and relocations.Oversee project(s). Ensure projects are completed to specifications on time, and within budget.Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches and platsUtilize surveying instruments such as prisms, theodolites and measuring equipment, chain saws and assorted toolsCoordinate with right of way, construction crews, department planners and pole contacts departmentsInterpret, adhere to and enforce the company safety policy, the Line Extension Policy and the National Electric Safety CodePrepare small scale distribution design with minimal supervisionProvide proper and routine maintenance and care for assigned vehicles and toolsStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedPOLE CONTACT DESIGNER :
Process Pole Attachment Permits including field verification inspections for new attachmentsEnsure telecommunication attachers are in compliance with National Electric Safety Code, state law, and Cooperative standardsCoordinate and monitor projects, working directly with other Cooperative departments / districts, attaching entities, and construction contractorsPerform pre and post inspections for joint useWork with Engineering personnel on load calculationsProvide information to support staff for the preparation of “make ready” costsDraw or provide input to support staff to draw construction jobsInspecting facilities for safety issues including compliance with NESC, condition of Cooperative facilities, contractor and telecommunication attacher working environmentStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedSupervisory and / or Leadership Responsibilities
