Position Summary
This position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating activities of an Engineering Department, coordinating with consultants, contractors, district operations, system maintenance and SCADA to communicate project scope, project details and budget parameters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Communicate project scope, details and budget parameters to District Operations, System Maintenance and SCADAConduct engineering analysis of distribution system, load forecasting, power quality, material standards, construction standards, transmission and substationsDevelop budget for capital improvement projectsCoordinate and evaluate construction projectsEnsure North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) complianceDesign or provide significant input to system improvement projects, especially underground subdivisionsCoordinate with consultants, members, consultants, developers and government entities on all projectsCoordinate compliance with standards, codes, and regulatory requirementsImplement systems with provisions for continuity of operations during any disaster recovery or other emergency situationsResolve member complaints and answer members’ questions regarding department management policies and proceduresSupervise the work of staff, consultants and contractors to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures, correcting errors or problemsProvide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputesImplement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with managementDiscuss job performance problems with employees to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problemsTeach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies or arrange for training to be providedEvaluate employees' job performance and conformance to regulations and recommend appropriate personnel actionRecruit, instruct and supervise subordinatesInterpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staffDevelop and review operating proceduresDevelop and manage department budgetEstablish work priorities and activitiesRecommend promotions, transfers, hires and other disciplinary actionEstablish metrics and prepare monthly reportsCoordinate activities with other departmentsMaintain the security of confidential informationStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedSupervisory and / or Leadership Responsibilities
