Position Summary
This position is responsible for engineering enterprise wide computer and information systems networks including IP based LAN, WAN, intranet and extranet landscapes which provide service for voice, video and data.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform network design, modeling, analysis, troubleshooting and oversightCoordinate and manage the installation of hardware, software, infrastructure cabling, network switching, edge firewalls, wireless access points and wireless end pointsResearch and recommend vendor tools to support network and telecommunications architecture designsBenchmark and recommend solutions based on industry best practicesWrite operations technical specifications documentsInterface and coordinate tasks with internal and external resources.Identify and implement VoIP networking components, techniques and protocolsTroubleshoot and triage network incidents ranging from physical layer issues up to application related load balancing problems throughout the network stackDesign, test and inspect IP based data communications systemsDevelop, evaluate and document network standardsDevelop approaches for network architectural governanceCoordinate implementation timelines for network hardware and software architecturesDesign and drive the implementation of a network security plan including authentication, firewalls, proxy servers, remote access and federationAnalyze business requirements to develop technical network solutions and their frameworkConduct operational efficiency studies focused on the analysis of network performance, and identify areas of opportunity for improvementReview wireless access point coverage and make recommendations for improvementsMentor and guide less experienced technical resourcesTrain and perform knowledge transfer to Network Administrators and Telecommunication SpecialistsIdentify technology trends that can improve performance and cost mitigation effortsAssess business and application requirements for cooperative data and voice networksEnsure compliance with NERC, FERC and ERCOT Reliability standards including Critical Infrastructure Protection StandardsParticipate in maintaining availability of Control System environmentsDocument changes made to systems or equipment through appropriate change management, communications and record keeping practicesMaintain the security of confidential informationStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedSupervisory and / or Leadership Responsibilities
