What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthcare Intern position at Pediatric Associates Inc PS?
The temporary/seasonal Healthcare Intern helps and supports all members of the care team with a focus on meeting the needs of patients between visits and for patients in the clinic as needed. The primary responsibility will be back-office clerical duties and rooming some patient appointments in addition to a specific set of clinical support duties as needed. This is a seasonal staff position which is part of the Pre-Professional Shadow program that combines pre-professional students with provider shadowing opportunities. There will be 4 hours of unpaid provider or nurse shadow time, as appropriate, per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and assist in preparing patients for providers. Includes but not limited to gathering required information and recorded these into our electronic health record (EHR)
- Obtain height and weight on patients and record these into our electronic health record (EHR)
- Assist in performing and documenting hearing and vision screen results
- Assist in preparing various patient forms for patients and/or provider reviews
- Prepare, stock, and clean exam rooms and other clinical or office areas for Allegro guidelines
- Support clerical back-office responsibilities
- Phone calls to patients, parents, or other medical entities as appropriate
- Data entry within EHR of specific historical data (i.e., Newborn, immunizations, etc.)
- Other assigned duties as delegated by clinic manager
- Must be willing to travel to all clinics for clinic shadowing
