POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Clinical Care Manager of Laboratory Services, the Lab Technician will perform routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment utilizing the following analyzers: Sysmex (CBC), Cepheid (CT/NG &TV), Abbott ID NOW (Molecular Strep A, COVID-19), LeadCare II (LEAD), FastPack (TSH & Vitamin D) and other essential Point-of-Care Test Kits.
*Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:30pm-5pm in our new Topsfield location due to open in February (hours may vary based on needs of the practice)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive, label and analyze samples
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility
- Report test results following protocols alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal results
- Maintain equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Lead Reporting Program through Mass Highway
- Quality assurance for Massachusetts State Licensure, Federal (CLIA) Lab Certification
- Knowledgeable on Athena & RelayMed (LIS) Software
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication, excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as function as part of the care team
- Ability to handle sensitive medical information/HIPAA compliance
- Working knowledge of EMR, Microsoft office and email
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or graduation equivalency degree (GED)
Minimum 1 year of experience in pediatric draws
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include lifting of supplies,
equipment, extensive bending, standing, walking or sitting may be required.
Ability to deal effectively with stress.
