**NCSP or State School Nurse license required**

SCHOOL NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing health care initiatives in the school.
- Managing minor daily health issues for students and staff, as needed.
- Performing hearing and vision screenings for students, as directed by health officials.
- Storing and Dispensing prescription medicine to students during school hours.
- Teaching health and nutrition classes to students that is a part of the state's preset curriculum.
- Managing immunization records for students, among other professional duties.
SCHOOL NURSE QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a School Nurse as prescribed in the bylaws of the State Department of Education.
- Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
- Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
