Responsibilities
- Review and verify patient information and insurance details for accuracy.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems, including ICD-10 and DRG.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process effectively.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and appeals as necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients regarding their billing inquiries and account status.
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing processes, including knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10) and terminology.
- Experience with medical collections and understanding of DRG principles is a plus.
- Proficiency in using billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
