Job Summary
The Orthopedic Technician plays a crucial role in supporting orthopedic healthcare teams by providing direct patient care and assisting in the management of orthopedic conditions. Duties
- Assist physicians in the application and removal of casts, splints, and braces.
- Prepare patients for orthopedic procedures by ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
- Maintain a sterile environment by applying aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and rehabilitation processes.
- Document patient information accurately in medical records, including coding when necessary.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report any changes to the medical staff.
- Provide support in pediatric orthopedic cases, ensuring a compassionate approach to care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to orthopedic care.
- Proficiency in medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Experience or training in coding for accurate documentation and billing processes.
