PSV has an exciting employment opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join their dedicated team of healthcare professionals! This specific role will be supporting PSV’s Center of Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic in our Fairfax, VA location. This position is working full-time Monday - Friday. Clinical hours range between 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Overview
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator/Educator will work with all Physicians in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) to provide support services in the following areas: Sickle Cell Team Coordination, Patient Education, and Case Coordination.
Job Description
Sickle Cell Coordination:
- Works with the sickle cell team to manage sickle cell clinics, track and support patients in ongoing health care, provide education, and support clinical research.
- Maintains updates to Virginia Department of Health (VDH) RedCap database for abnormal hemoglobin results on newborn screening. Duties include alerting team to abnormal screen, updating database from initial contact to diagnosis and deposition.
Patient Education:
- Provides education to patients and families for newly diagnosed Hematology-Oncology patients as well as ongoing cases as needed in the PSV Outpatient Clinic and at INOVA
- Creates and maintains patient and family education materials to support families during and after clinic visits
Case Coordination:
- Coordinates outpatient clinical care to include preparing and transmitting documents to local and national organizations to coordinate care of patients with other institutions for clinical trials
- Helps to arrange and follows-up on lab studies, radiology studies, and health maintenance screening studies, and actively consults with other departments
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Graduated of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
- Current Registered Nurse license; or ability to obtain license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required
- Two (2) years of RN work experience
- Experience in Hematology/Oncology required
- APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification required within 6 months of hire
- All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
