We have an exciting employment opportunity for experienced Radiology Technologists to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals! This specific role will be supporting our Orthopedics Clinic in our Fairfax, VA location. This role is working Full-Time 40 hours a week, from 8:30am - 5:00pm

Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine pediatric surgeons work closely with a comprehensive medical team specialized in the treatment of infants, children, and teens with muscle, skeletal, and bone conditions and injuries.
A radiology technologist serves an important purpose in a radiology department. The main role is to assist radiologist with the process of imaging, and not that of diagnosis as this is the key role of a physician. The radiology technologist job description involves taking pictures of the body while utilizing basic X-ray. They are responsible for ensuring the patient’s safety during the course of the procedure. Technologists may be required to explain the procedure in layman terms to ensure a patient’s comfort. Most importantly, the ability to produce a high-quality image consistently is crucial as this will help physicians to correctly provide diagnosis.
Job Description
- Demonstrates working knowledge of all diagnostic imaging equipment and related components
- Produces high quality radiographs by using proper positioning and immobilization techniques
- Sets appropriate exposure factors to produce high quality films
- Uses good judgment regarding film quality; determines when repeats are required
- Performs all exams in a timely and efficient manner
- Assures permanent film identification by using lead markers
- Identifies each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart
- Checks and verifies orders for accuracy prior to examine
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
- Submission of charges and documentation immediately following exam
- Follows correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut-down of equipment
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Greets patients respectfully, introduces self to patient and treats all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner
- Explains exam to patients/parents
- Communicates with patient throughout the exam and releases patient/parent with appropriate follow-up information
- Assures room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam
- Makes every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodates stat or add-on requests
- Presents a neat and professional image via appropriate dress
- Adheres to all OSHA regulations
- Inquires about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy for female adolescents and teens
- Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors
- Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
- Immediately reports equipment malfunctions to manager in a timely manner
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology
- One (1) year clinical radiography experience in a hospital environment
- A.R.R.T. certified or eligible
- Current CPR certification
- All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
