PSV is currently looking for an experienced Patient Services Representative supporting our Gastroenterology/Urology Outpatient Clinic. This role is a temporary position working on a 6-month assignment located in Fairfax, VA. This position is scheduled to work Monday–Friday 8am–5pm.
The Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition team are dedicated to the care of infants, children, and adolescents with stomach, digestive, liver, and nutritional disorders. Our specialists are dedicated to caring only for children, which means we are also specialists in addressing the unique needs of children and families living with these disorders.
This position is responsible for registering patients for outpatient services, ensuring that complete and accurate information is obtained, and accountable for the efficient operation of the front desk and provides a variety of administrative and clerical support to facilitate the smooth operation of the clinic.

Responsibilities
- Registers patients for emergency and outpatient services, ensuring that complete and accurate information is obtained
- Updates existing or creates new patient records, ensuring that information is complete and up-to-date and enters information into computer database.
- Collects appropriate payments, logs in to ledger or automated system, calculates receipts and prepares packages for courier pick-up in accordance with established procedures and schedules.
- Accountable for the efficient operation of the front desk and reception function for a clinic or outpatient department
- Serves as first point of contact for patients and visitors and determines purpose of visit.
- Answers and screens telephone calls and takes accurate messages.
- Responds to inquiries and provides appropriate information or refers to staff member.
- Provides a variety of administrative and clerical support to facilitate the smooth operation of the clinic or department
- Schedules appointments as needed in appointment book and/or in automated scheduling system, following established guidelines.
- Performs a variety of other clerical tasks: makes copies, sends and receives faxes, opens and distributes mail.
- Monitors office supplies and forms and ensures that a sufficient quantity is on hand at all times.
- One year experience in a medical office environment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills: 50 wpm; Microsoft Office
- All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Previous experience using EPIC or other EMR system
