What are the responsibilities and job description for the MA/Lab tech/Clinic patient care float position at Pediatrics East?
Immediate need for a detail oriented and strongly motivated individual who is able to function efficiently in a fast-paced moderately complex lab environment. The employee must be able to handle multiple patient specimens for testing and reporting in a timely manner. Employee must be able to float on different days between 4 lab locations (Arlington, Bartlett, Collierville, and Germantown) as needed to cover days lab tech is off. Possibility for Arlington to be home base.
Key job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs accurate and appropriate collection/testing of specimens (cbc, micro urinalysis, pinworm, newborn screen collection, Meharry collection, Liat covid/flu tests, strep, glucose, mono, and more) received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures. Reports test results in the EHR in a timely manner. Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control in regards to running daily controls on Cell Dyn Emerald CBC instrument ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and policies and procedures. Effectively manages supplies, vaccines, and maintains testing equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner. Participates in proficiency testing 1- 3 x a year. Orientation/training provided.
On days when lab is covered, the employee will float to assist physician's nursing staff as needed with patient triage call center, immunizations, and other nursing duties.
Applicant must have MA certificate or higher degree. High school diploma or equivalent also needed for lab duties. Previous laboratory experience per detailed above and clinical patient triage is preferred.
Full time position M-F (7:30am to 5-5:30p) with possible opportunity for night/ weekend clinic. The employee must be very reliable to come to work daily and be on time.
