Pediatrics in Brevard is seeking a compassionate, professional, and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The Pediatric LPN will provide nursing care to pediatric patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or healthcare provider. Key responsibilities include administering medications, performing routine medical procedures, and supporting the well-being and comfort of children. Additionally, the LPN will play a vital role in educating families about pediatric healthcare needs, fostering a caring and informative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with medical code of conduct guidelines.
• Assist in scheduling and managing patient appointments, ensuring timely communication of any changes or cancellations.
• Inform the pediatrician of patient arrivals and maintain awareness of scheduled visits.
• Obtain and document patient health history to complete required medical forms.
• Prepare treatment rooms to ensure a clean and efficient environment for patient care.
• Perform diagnostic tests and administer immunizations as directed by the pediatrician.
• Facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes.
• Prepare patients for examinations and record vital signs and changes in medical history.
• Conduct routine screenings and laboratory tests such as urine dips, strep screens, and flu tests.
• Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed.
• Manage triage phone calls, addressing both emergent and non-emergency patient concerns.
• Clean and sanitize exam rooms between patient visits.
• Adhere to OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Frequent walking, standing, sitting, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Regular use of hands for handling medical instruments and equipment.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
• Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Proficiency in inventory control practices.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive work-related information and materials.
• Experience with word processing, data entry, telephone systems, and computer use.
• Capability to work in a diverse environment with sensitivity to diversity and inclusion issues.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active LPN license with at least three (3) years of experience.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong preference for candidates with a passion for working with children.
• Ability to demonstrate patience and gentle persuasion when working with pediatric patients.
• Dependability, initiative, and a professional demeanor.
• Willingness to travel locally as required.
