Who we are:
PediaTrust provides skilled nursing care to medically fragile children who cannot attend a typical daycare. Our healthcare professionals create personalized, developmentally stimulating environments where children are able to interact and thrive. We offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, educational curriculum, and of course lots of fun.
Our Louisiana clinics include Denham Springs, Lake Charles, Lafayette and coming soon Baton Rouge. Our Mississippi clinics include Columbus and Hattiesburg.
Who we are looking for:
Full-time Activity Coordinator
The Activity Coordinator ensures that activities are conducive to the children's development while providing a chance for them to engage in activities that support their growth in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a monthly calendar of activities.
- Organizing, and overseeing recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities tailored to a child’s needs.
- Organizing and overseeing community events such as holidays, birthdays, and graduation.
- Maintain a set budget for all activities.
- Plan structured play sessions, sensory activities, art projects, music therapy, physical exercises, social skills programs, and more.
- Adjust activities based on the child's response and abilities, ensuring each child has the opportunity to participate at their own level.
- Meet with team to discuss progress and adjustments in approach.
- Provide physical support during activities.
- Communication with parents and documentation of their quarterly goals and progress.
- Collaboration with therapists and homebound teachers if applicable.
- Assist children with feeding or cleaning as needed.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, supportive environment through one-on-one or small group activities, offering guidance and encouragement.
- Recognize and respond to emotional, physical, and behavioral cues from the children, implementing strategies to help them remain engaged.
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to reduce challenging behaviors.
- Ensure that all children are supervised during activities.
Education:
- Associate’s degree is preferred.
Skills:
- Previous experience with children with special needs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with children of varying abilities.
- Creativity and resourcefulness to meet activities needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Emergency procedures, including first aid and CPR.
- Willing to cross train and assist in similar roles is required.
