JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Architect (PA) shall be responsible and accountable for successfully managing the documented and technical aspect of multiple projects concurrently to meet the objectives of the client’s stated deliverables and meet the objectives of PM Design Group, the (Company). Project Architects shall also demonstrate managerial and leadership qualities that support and exemplify the Company values, culture, ethics and morals, and staff growth standards and objectives. The Project Architect shall plan, organize, monitor, manage, and control the development and completion of assigned project deliverables of PM Design Group. A priority of the Project Architect is to delegate tasks and responsibilities to subordinates as required to maintain accountability and growth of the staff. Project Architects shall provide mentorship and training to staff.
Degreed Architect. License desired. 10 Years of experience is required. Commercial retail project experience is a must.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBIITIES:
PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initial interaction with the project manager to determine project deliverable scope and client objectives and confirm team can meet client and Company objectives.
- Assist with scope and timing to help the PM draft project proposals.
- Prepare or oversee the creation of project schedules including milestones and deliverables for each task/ project.
- Prepare, attend, project Kick off meeting with project team and client.
- Collaborate with stakeholders during the design process to maintain design intent.
- Oversee due diligence provided by the team and staff for accuracy.
- Oversee and assist with Entitlement and Permit submittal and approval process.
- Oversee project(s) weekly for budget and schedule compliance and proactively act when schedules and budgets are in jeopardy of not being achieved. Includes forecasting of revenue and resources (labor, consultants, etc.)
- Oversee, mentor and delegate to subordinate staff, company document standards including CAD (sheet set-up, layering, title blocks) and folder structure. Confirm understanding, follow-up and verify objectives are met.
- Review and direct construction documents, process and provide direction and red lines for subordinate staff members to review and complete.
- Oversee (or provide) a schedule for all consultants to follow.
- Oversee (or provide) a kickoff call to the internal team to familiarize consultants with project and requirements.
- Oversee (or provide) P.O. issuance and all agreements to completion.
- Oversee (or provide) review of progress drawings from consultants and coordination with Architectural plans.
- Oversee (or provide) request of stamped and signed drawings from consultants for permitting, coordinate architectural cover sheet with engineers’ sheet set.
- Review Construction Documents progress with internal project team (60%, 90%). Provide redlines for project staff to complete.
- Oversee and Mentor staff on building code, all facets: Exiting/ Egress, Occupancy, fire, plumbing/ fixture, and accessibility, with some knowledge of the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes.
- Oversee and Mentor staff on specifications for project conformance.
- Ensure all projects are submitted to internal PMDG QA/ QC reviewer. All projects must go through this review. Oversee review of comments and ensure ALL fire and life safety comments are addressed. Implement process to ensure issues are corrected and not duplicated on future projects.
- Oversee Permit Expediting if included in Contract.
- Oversee staff on processing plan check comments for local jurisdiction approval.
- Oversee staff on sub consultant’s coordination as required and provide constant communication with project team.
- Mentor staff on identification of scope creep and writing Change orders in an expedited manner to support additional scope of work.
- Oversee or Provide Bid Documents and bid process if required.

- CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Always maintain solid communication with clients.
- Respond to clients (in person and over the phone) within a reasonable time frame (typically same business day but no later than second business day).
- Attend and / or run project meetings as required by project scope.
- Attend and actively participate in company meetings/conference calls.
- Is knowledgeable of project components and keep clients always informed as required.
