Utility Worker

Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority has a full-time position available for a Utility Worker who maintains the upkeep of our company facilities and bus vehicles.

Must have or must be willing to obtain Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement. Paid in-house CDL training and testing is available. Must display professionalism and provide excellent customer service to PDRTA passengers and customers. Experience in call center or related field preferred. Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre-employment drug screen, pass a DOT pre-employment physical and criminal background check. SC Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Passenger Endorsement preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Cleans the interior and exterior of vehicles using the washing device as well as brooms, mops, cloths, vacuum cleaner, or other cleaning devices and cleaning mixtures or chemicals.
• Cleans facilities including restrooms.
• Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Maintains grass and shrubbery at the PDRTA facilities.
• Drives Authority’s vehicles to and from different areas to be serviced (CDL required)
• Performs general maintenance work on equipment or furniture. Moves furniture as needed.
• Transports small equipment or tools between departments or facilities.
• Sets up tables and chairs in classroom or other areas.
• Drives Authority’s vehicles in non-revenue service to pick up parts, supplies, or to fuel vehicles.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Completes all work in a timely manner to meet deadlines.
• Attends training sessions as required to maintain, obtain, or upgrade skills, certifications, or licensing.
• Complies with all safety rules and regulations. Promptly reports all safety violations and/or hazards.
• Complies with all Authority policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

One to three months related experience.

Corresponding years of experience may be considered as a substitute for the level of education desired.

The employee is occasionally to drive a revenue service vehicle, however not in revenue service.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is exposed to toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, fumes/airborne particles, and the risk of electric shock or vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must receive a negative result from a DOT pre–employment drug screen. Must receive a negative result from a DOT post-accident, random, or reasonable suspicion drug and/or alcohol screen.

Must pass a DOT pre-employment physical and maintain a valid DOT card.

Occasional travel to other PDRTA offices is required.
