The Director of Peer Services will serve as an integral member of the leadership team at the Peer Wellness Collective, contributing to the organization's mission of providing culturally responsive mental health services. This role holds a critical position in ensuring that our programs continue to deliver impactful services to our community.
The Director will champion a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity. They will work collaboratively with Program Managers to chart the strategic course of each program, aligning them with our overarching vision. This entails fostering an environment where lived experience is not just respected but celebrated as a source of expertise, empowering individuals on their paths to recovery. Additionally, the Director will play a vital role in building and sustaining relationships with community partners, advocating for the needs and rights of our participants, and promoting a just, safe, and healthy community for all. The Peer Wellness Collective is dedicated to providing comprehensive, peer-driven mental health services, and the Director of Peer Services will be at the forefront of this transformative journey, contributing to the collective empowerment and well-being of our community members.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Program Leadership and Oversight:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to Program Managers to ensure the successful implementation of all program goals.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to develop, implement, and monitor program goals, objectives, and deliverables aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
- Foster a culture of innovation, peer support, and inclusivity within the programs.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Supervise and support Program Managers, including regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and professional development plans.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and growth among program staff.
- Facilitate regular team meetings and encourage cross-program collaboration.
Program Evaluation and Reporting:
- Ensure that each program adheres to data collection and reporting requirements.
- Review and analyze program data to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to develop and implement improvement plans as needed.
Resource Management:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and manage program budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources.
- Monitor program expenditures and financial reports, making adjustments as necessary.
- Oversee the procurement of necessary resources and supplies for program activities.
Community Engagement and Partnerships:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, funders, and stakeholders to support program goals.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and events to promote the Peer Wellness Collective's mission and programs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Lived experience as a mental health consumer/peer is essential, aligning with the organization's mission and values.
- Commitment to upholding the mission, vision, and values of the Peer Wellness Collective.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a mental health or peer support context.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations, particularly in urban settings, and an understanding of various personal mental health experiences.
- Proven ability to work effectively within diverse teams and independently meet project deadlines and expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills including time management
- Ability to work in diverse and sometimes challenging situations while modeling personal recovery and wellness
- Knowledge of Consumer Movement, Peer Support, and familiarity with Alameda County mental health system and community-services
It is a plus if you have:
- Access to transportation
- Ability to speak multiple languages / Bilingual
- Graduate of BestNow! (JobsNow) or another Peer Support Specialist training program
- More than 5 years of experience working in Alameda County
