Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team at Peerless Chain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines, including oval link forming, welding, and calibrating equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate oval link forming, welding, and calibrating machines.
- Maintain quality control and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Perform frequent checks on chain being formed and welded.
- Record necessary information on production forms.
- Use hand and power tools and measuring instruments in the performance of the job.
Selection Criteria
The initial selection of the Operator – OLFW will be made by a joint committee that will interview candidates and provide input into the selection based on the following factors:
- Physical requirements
- Mechanical assessments and abilities
- Experience in machine setups
- Experience in operating Material Handling equipment
- Computer skills
- Communication and ability to train
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Complete and pass formal 6 month training program
- Must be able to operate machine sets in their assigned work cell
- Abide by safety policies and operator preventative maintenance and housekeeping practices
- Ensure the quality specification of the product
- Accurately complete process and quality documentation
- Performs Material Handling duties to move raw and finished goods
- Must be able to work in partnership with other operators in assigned work cell
- Reasoning ability to define problems, collect information, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
This role requires:
- Frequently required to stand
- Occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and utilize assistance for lifting weight over 50 pounds
Work Environment
You will be working in an environment where you will be:
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Occasionally exposed to vibration
