Job Overview: Peerless Chain is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to join our team. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for designing, building, and repairing tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and parts.
About the Role:
- Lay out work, build and repair tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and parts under the direction of Supervisor or from written or verbal instructions, blueprints, and sketches.
- Build and overhaul machinery, set up and operate all tool room machines to specified tolerances.
- Use machinist's hand and power tools and measuring instruments, make necessary mathematical calculations.
- Perform welding, brazing, and heat treating operations when required.
- Work with operators and setup leads on installation of new setups and revised setups.
- Monitor machining operations and react to prevent tool crashes due to programming errors and other unplanned situations that could lead to costly downtime and machine repairs.
Requirements:
- TWO (2) year technical degree or equivalent experience and TWO years practical experience with demonstration of skills in a work-based assessment.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent standing, using hands to fingers, handling or feeling, talking or hearing. Occasional walking and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and utilize assistance for lifting weight over 50 pounds.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, occasional exposure to vibration.
