Business Development Strategist
Location: Buffalo, NY (50% Travel Required – Road Warrior Mentality Needed)

We are looking for a driven, tenacious, and resilient Business Development Strategist who can turn leads into long-term customer relationships. The ideal candidate will follow a structured sales process to develop new business opportunities and expand Peerless’ presence in key markets.
About The Job:
This role is ideal for a driven and strategic sales professional who thrives on building relationships and expanding market presence. As a Business Development Strategist at Peerless, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging OEM and Private Label customers, driving sales growth through in-person meetings, and developing long-term partnerships. With a strong technical understanding of manufacturing and fabrication, you will leverage your expertise to present tailored solutions, manage complex sales cycles, and contribute to the company’s continued expansion across key markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
· Identify and engage prospective customers, with a focus on OEM and Private Label accounts.
· Promote Peerless’ welded, machined, and fabricated parts to Engineering, Project Management, and Procurement professionals.
· Target key regions, including the Northeast, Midwest, and Canada, while developing new business in the rest of the U.S. and Mexico.
· Prospect new clients and schedule in-person meetings, ensuring a full schedule when traveling.
· Conduct technical sales discussions with engineers, understanding specifications, qualification requirements, and data-driven decision-making processes.
Customer & Market Expansion:
· Maintain and grow existing customer relationships by identifying new opportunities within named accounts.
· Qualify leads based on Peerless’ sales strategy and qualification framework.
· Regularly update and expand our CRM system to track new targets, key personnel, and market insights.
· Leverage industry knowledge to tailor product offerings and solutions to meet customer needs.
Collaboration & Sales Process Execution:
· Work closely with internal teams, including Engineering and Account Management, to align with customer needs and deliver technical solutions.
· Partner with the Marketing teams to distribute relevant promotional materials to prospective customers.
· Maintain awareness of industry trends, key suppliers, and competitors to support strategic decision-making.
· Plan and execute travel strategically, ensuring multiple meetings per trip to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
· Develop structured sales processes to turn business opportunities into long-term annuities.
Qualifications:
· BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in sales, business development, or a related field.
· Minimum 5 years of sales experience (process component or industrial sales experience preferred).
· Technical competence and experience, ideally in manufacturing or engineering-related sales.
· Proficiency with CRM systems to manage accounts and sales pipelines.
· Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
· Ability to work independently while managing priorities, sales opportunities, and time effectively.
· Proven ability to meet and exceed sales quotas.
· Goal-oriented individual with a systematic approach to sales and marketing operations.
Work Environment & Travel:
· Travel approximately 50% of the time, with a focus on Northeast, Midwest, and Canada while expanding opportunities across the U.S. and Mexico.
· Expected to book and conduct approximately 10 meetings per week via Teams and In-Person meetings.
· Expected to become an industry expert in High Temp products, Pro Core, and Process solutions offered by Peerless.
· Manage prospects through long sales cycles, developing strong relationships and strategic business opportunities.
