Job Title: Director of Operations

Peerless Machine and Tool, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of paper converting machinery and tooling, is looking to hire an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a team of approximately 30 employees, ensuring that production goals, quality standards, and safety regulations are met. The Director of Operations will oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, staffing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts.

The Director of Operations will report to the Executive Vice President.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of approximately 30 employees, including production workers, supervisors, and support staff.
• Foster a positive work environment focused on collaboration, safety, and high performance.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and manage employee training programs.

Production Management:

• Oversee daily production operations to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing processes.
• Manage production schedules, ensure proper resource allocation, and ensure product quality standards are consistently met.
• Monitor production workflows and identify areas for process improvements or cost savings.

Safety & Compliance:

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company and regulatory health and safety standards.
• Address any safety concerns promptly and implement corrective actions as needed.

Inventory & Resource Management:

• Oversee the inventory of raw materials, finished goods, and supplies to meet production demands without excess.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inventory levels and production data.

Quality Control:

• Maintain high product quality by implementing and monitoring quality assurance processes.
• Work closely with the quality control team to ensure compliance with quality standards and continuous improvement.

Maintenance & Equipment:

• Manage the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery to minimize downtime.

Continuous Improvement:

• Lead initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiencies, product quality, and reducing waste.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and drive a culture of continuous improvement across the plant.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in plant or operations management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a focus on continuous process improvement.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality control practices.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and ERP systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
