What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift CNC Machine Operator position at Peerless-Winsmith?
Position Summary
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC/NC machines to process parts according to design specification. This position is on second shift and reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Modify machine programs according to specifications
- Processes test part and does a first piece inspection and completes quality control sheet
- Makes necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards such as adjusting tooling offsets, electronic gauge and steady rest
- Performs simple maintenance on machines such as changing inserts
- Read and interpret routers and drawings
- Able to produce quality work and exercise judgment on quality acceptability
- Capable of performing at rates set by pre-determined time standards
- Able to perform in a team environment
- Required following all safety rules, use of proper PPE, and report any safety concerns
Experience and Education Required
- High school education or equivalent
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering specifications
- Ability to read various precision measuring equipment including scales and dial indicators
- Good mechanical ability
Technical Skills
- Ability to use various hand tools, hydraulic presses, air wrenches, electric motors, air gauges, bearing pre-load press, parts washer, and arbor press
- May be required to operate a forklift
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects from 10-50 pounds continuously
- Flexible and overtime sometimes required
- Requires standing continuously and walking occasionally throughout the day up to ten hours
