What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weld Qualification/Testing Technician position at Pegasus Steel Group?
Assist the weld training school by preparing, distributing storing and distributing filler materials, weld testing coupons and inventory in the weld training area.
Record test data.
Operate equipment throughout the testing process or to develop skills as needed.
Cut weld qualification test coupons to prepare for polishing and bent in compliance with applicable codes, standards, or other specified requirements.
Understand, comply, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
Responsible for following housekeeping and 5-S initiatives in the quality department.
Perform measurements using various hand gages including steel tapes, steel rulers, calipers, micrometers, etc.
Work toward developing skills and knowledge to establish techniques; to interpret codes, standards, and specifications.
Record test data.
All other duties assigned.
Working knowledge of various metal working tools, ex. Band saw, cutting torch, hydraulic press.
Shall have a practical knowledge of assembly and fabrication production processes.
1 year of progressive project experience in assembly and/or steel fabrication.
Ability to read SAE and/or metric measuring devices.
Ability to take instruction, whether verbal or written, and complete tasks accordingly.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Communicate using proper verbal and written skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
