What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Pegasus Steel - Keel?
Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results include the following for associates. Other duties may be assigned.
- Measure and visually inspect parts to verify conformance to customer requirements
- Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications
- Approves in-process production by confirming specifications
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications
- Contributes to root cause investigations related to quality issues
- Initiate non-conformance reports
- Communicates required adjustments to production supervisor
- Documents inspection results by completing associated reports and logs
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, verifying calibration and notifying supervisor of needed repairs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
- Assists with the implementation, interpretation, and maintenance of the ISO9001 quality assurance standards
- Participates in internal audits as necessary
- All other duties as assigned

- Analyzing Information, Documentation Skills, Promoting Process Improvement, Managing Processes, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation
- Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, calipers, and micrometers required
- Familiar with interpreting Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance preferred
- Familiar with Virtek Laser CMM
- Three years of quality inspection or supervision in a manufacturing environment required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Associate degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
