SUMMARY:
The Philadelphia Operations Manager reports to the Vice President of Global Operations. The Operations Manager is the senior role within the plant and oversees all operations from Receiving through Shipping. This individual will be highly visible on the floor and have a working knowledge of all processes. They will monitor and move the hourly staff based on the flow of work, lead by example, be detail oriented, inspire the team, and set a tone of precision, excellence and responsiveness to customers and stakeholders. Oversight responsibilities include but not limited to Receiving, Warehouse Management, Production, Quality, Shipping, Health and Safety, Compliance, and Equipment Maintenance.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- BS Degree in Engineering or Management.
- A minimum of 5 years of plant leadership experience ideally in a job shop assembly environment.
- Experience supervising multiple disciplines including hourly, non-exempt and exempt personnel.
- Creative thinking, good judgment, effective communication, and a willingness to confront and address complex issues are essential.
- Knowledge and experience in managing a fast paced assembly and distribution manufacturing facility – preferably a Job Shop Environment.
- Knowledge of problem-solving techniques such as Six Sigma or Theory of Constraints.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 quality system.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as a factory and business leader, developing strong staff and succession plans.
- Grow internal cohesion to bring out the full potential of their employees.
- In conjunction with HR actively drive the process of developing our company’s values, vision, and mission.
- Identifies performance issues, provide constructive developmental feedback, and assists in development planning of the hourly team.
- Drives continuous process and quality improvement.
- Provides strong and visible leadership to drive cross-functional improvements at the site.
- Monitor and drives the Operational Metrics.
- Ensures continuous throughput by allocation of staff and equipment.
- Ensure all products meet specifications (Government, Suppliers, Customers, & Company).
- Provides leadership and ownership in assuring compliance in Safety, Health and Environmental.
- Demonstrates a customer focused response and mindset.
- Ensures that all equipment and tooling meet standards.
- Maintains the highest possible standards both internally and externally.
- Ensures that all administrative procedures / work instructions are followed completely.
- FOD Prevention Leader for the Philadelphia Operations site.
- Monitor and support the plant culture evolution on a regular basis.
- Will have a demonstrated track record in developing exceptional relationships and establishing strong lines of communication and collaboration between stakeholders and across departments.
