SUMMARY:
The Product Specialist position plays a crucial part in the day-to-day operations of PEI, supporting all Product Managers in all aspects of the Product & Supply Chain Management process. The primary focus is on pricing, purchasing and part number setup, Bill of Material creation, interfacing with Suppliers and Sales teams. The Product Specialist also performs some expediting and marketing of products to our internal and external customers.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum High school diploma and/or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or company preferred.
TECHNICAL/MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES:
- Effective Communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to quickly learn products, processes, and technically complex systems.
- Experience planning, buying and/or pricing products with Bills of Materials.
- Experience with an ERP/MRP system such as Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft or other.
- Organization & Task Management skills
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate spreadsheet skills
- Microsoft Outlook & Word
- Customer Service mindset
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and understand technical products and processes. Take initiative to learn in the classroom, on-the-job, and self-teach through studying product manuals and documents.
- Maintain internal price and delivery module, responding promptly to sales
- Manage initial stock packages, as well as adjustments to strategy and execution of stocking strategies by part number and product line.
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers and schedule annual supplier blanket orders
- Set up part numbers and bill of materials in the ASW (MRP) system
- Provide technical support for internal and external customers
- Communicates important supplier information to management, such as material issues that may impact our overall business
- Ensures integrity of system information including cost, resale, packaging information, descriptions, and other part data maintenance.
- Work with suppliers and PEI sales in regards to the disposition of defective goods
- Maintain inventory. Analyze slow moving & excess using Excel and take/track actions.
- Assist with annual price sheet set up
- Assist with Marketing – web, catalogs, mailers, internal
