Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Earthwork and Grading Heavy Equipment Operator to operate various heavy machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, and scrapers to precisely grade and shape earth for construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction blueprints, grade stakes, and safety protocols to ensure accurate and efficient earthwork operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely and proficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment such as dozers, excavators, and scrapers to perform tasks like rough and fine grading, trenching, backfilling, and shaping earth to project specifications.
- Read and Interpret Plans: Accurately read and interpret construction blueprints, survey stakes, and grade markers to ensure precise grading and earthwork execution.
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, leveling ground, and creating proper drainage contours.
- Quality Control: Regularly check and maintain grade accuracy throughout the project, making adjustments as necessary to meet project specifications.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining a safe work environment, and communicating effectively with other crew members.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on assigned equipment, reporting any issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Coordinate with Crew: Collaborate effectively with other construction personnel, including surveyors, foremen, and laborers, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Weather Considerations: Operate equipment in varying weather conditions and adjust operations accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating heavy equipment for earthwork and grading projects.
- Valid License: Possess a valid driver's license with appropriate endorsements, if required.
- Technical Skills: Thorough understanding of construction grading principles, ability to read and interpret construction plans, and knowledge of machine operation and maintenance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift heavy objects, and perform physically demanding tasks.
