Summary
Pelco Structural in Claremore, Oklahoma designs and fabricates steel structures for the electrical transmission and traffic intersection markets. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Production Manager to lead our manufacturing teams. The Production Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of three production shifts ensuring that production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. This role requires a strong leader who can drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Production Planning & Management
Manage adherence to production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
Monitor production processes, identify problems (e.g., bottlenecks), and implement solutions to increase productivity and efficiency.
Ensure that production goals are met within the specified time frames and budget.
Team Leadership
Supervise mentor, and develop a team of production staff, including line supervisors, machine operators, and assembly workers.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and set performance goals.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Manage current and new staff through performance, attendance and behavior management, discipline, training, and interviewing and hiring new employees.
Quality Assurance
Ensure that all products meet or exceed quality standards that have been established by the quality assurance team.
Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintain compliance with the quality assurance manual and procedures, industry standards and regulations (i.e., OSHA).
Safety & Compliance
Promote a culture of safety by ensuring that all employees adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.
Implement manufacturing principles / best practices to drive operational excellence.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure that the facility and equipment are maintained in peak condition.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred
5 years of production management experience in leading and managing production teams in a fast-paced environment
Previous working experience in steel fabrication and welding processes – preferably specific to the traffic and transmission structures industry
Previous experience manufacturing custom, made to order products
Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings / blueprints
Prior supervisory experience to include performance management, scheduling, coaching / training
Good leadership, communication, organizational, time management skills and strong attention to detail
Computer skills : intermediate to advanced skills with spreadsheets and ERP systems
