JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Central Office Math Specialist
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Alabama professional certificate in secondary education
- Minimum of five years’ experience and a secondary Math teacher
- Demonstrate expertise in mathematics instruction, teaching strategies and numeracy intervention.
- Hold a master’s degree
- Preferred instructional coaching teacher leader experience in secondary
- Must have the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
- Ensure consistent punctuality by arriving to work on time each day, maintaining a reliable and professional presence.
- Such alternatives to the qualifications listed above or below as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Description:
Carry out all duties related to the job as assigned by the Superintendent or Supervisors as designated by the Superintendent.
Salary and Terms of Employment:
Based on Pelham City Schools’ salary matrix (12 Month Schedule D-F).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with PCS Curriculum & Instruction Team and schools to assist with state, district and school goals in the area of Math.
- Collaborating with school administrators, instructional coaches and teachers to implement strategic coaching and data-driven instructional practices.
- Support the improvement of instruction in all tiers of instruction to assist in the academic growth of all students.
- Assist schools in designing mathematics professional development.
- Implement coaching strategies to include: preplanning, model lessons, side-by-side, co-teaching, data collection, and debriefing.
- Continuous teacher mentoring and coaching
- Assist schools in data analysis alongside school administration, instructional coaches, and leadership teams.
- Collaborate with Math teachers and school leadership teams to monitor and progress student growth and achievement.
- Planning and coordinating with school leadership for school and community engagement in the area of Math.
- Participate in on-going professional learning.
- Plan and facilitate learning opportunities to achieve state, district and school goals in the area of Math.
- Maintain records of schedule, coaching cycles and time spent for school leadership and central office designee.
- Oversee Math Summer Camps/Grants
