About the Position
We are seeking a full-time Security Officer; this position will be responsible for access control and safety & security within Pelican Bay Foundation. What You’ll Do
- Responsible for overseeing the Safety and Security of the Foundation Common areas, including access control to ensure only Foundation members and their guests.
- Respond to and report any accidents/injuries or incidents; act as a liaison with emergency responders upon arrival; aid with First Aid, CPR or AED use in medical emergency situations, 911 calls, and ensure scene safety.
- In charge of knowing how to open/close, lock/unlock all exits, doors, and windows; arming/disarming all security systems throughout Common Areas to ensure all areas are secure and free from risks.
- Serves as an information source on the history, characteristics, and environment of Pelican Bay as well as current/future events and activities.
- Transport members and guests using a tram when needed.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Must have a current valid driver’s license.
- Must have proven experience in de-escalating situations.
- Must be an effective communicator and an active listener when dealing with members, guests, co-workers, managers/supervisors, and inter-departmental staff.
- Demonstrated high level of emotional intelligence.
- Must have the ability to drive safely, both during the day and in the evening
- Must be able to sit/drive/ stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including high temperatures, intense sunlight, high humidity, wind, and rain.
- Ability to meet physical requirements: standing, walking, and carrying up to 25 pounds.
Education
- Minimum High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Any combination of education, training, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.
- Prior first responder experience, i.e., EMT, Paramedic, Firefighter, Police Officer, or Military is preferred, but not required.
- Must be trained and certified in CPR/AED/First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens or successfully complete within 6 months of hire date, including refresher courses to maintain certification.
- Must have Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Training (40 hours) or successfully complete within 6 months of hire date and maintain certification.
- Must complete OSHA Training on Hazardous Chemicals annually.
- Ability to be trained in how to drive a Tram and transport members.
