Summary
Ensure residents and guests have an enjoyable beach experience through friendly, courteous, helpful service and the provision of clean, fully usable facilities. Maintain and protect company equipment, property and facilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare the beach area for residents and guests by placing beach umbrellas and chairs at appropriate locations on the shore, providing clean trash containers, removing any nuisance, manmade debris or health hazards, providing adequate potable water and ensuring restrooms are clean and adequately supplied. Non-potable water, septic system and electrical supply should be checked for proper operation. Report any problems.
Greet arriving residents and guests with relevant information about beach, facility or weather conditions. Offer to assist with disabled or overly encumbered visitors.
Carry out necessary routine cleaning and light maintenance on equipment, solar system, chairs, umbrellas, pavilions, staff boat, restrooms, and office and storage areas.
Patrol the beach and facility to ensure the rules and regulations as well as the county and state ordinances and regulations are enforced. Place calls to appropriate agencies for law enforcement action.
Courteously indicate to residents and guests and those non-resident or guests using the beach below the high-water mark who are violating PLCA Beach rules that they are in violation. Take appropriate action if violators do not respond to the advice.
Provide timely information to the Beach Operations Manager and other beach, boat and bus staff concerning maintenance needs, beach usage, beach and weather conditions and other relevant information.
Remove and secure all umbrellas, chairs and equipment at the end of the beach day.
Secure the staff boat following its last use.

Other Duties
Be able and willing to interact with other beach/boat staff employees in appropriate work place behavior.
Must be able to work special evening events in Season
As time permits, offer to explain and instruct visitors about the flora, fauna and ecosystem of the beach island and surrounding waters
Coordinate and cooperate with various environmental and community groups (Turtle Time, Florida Fish and Game Service, school groups) which are authorized to visit the beach park.
Adhere to and ensure that Pelican Landing Community Association Standard Operating Procedures are followed and all Company assets safeguarded.
Adhere to all safety policies and reports any unsafe conditions to management.
Comply with all policies as described in the Pelican Landing Community Association Handbook.
Other duties may be assigned, based on company’s needs.
Qualifications
H.S. Degree preferred.
CPR, First Aid and AED Training
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of or ability to learn about the flora, fauna, and ecosystem of the beach island and surrounding waters.
Ability to safely operate staff work boat & all-terrain vehicle
Good customer relations skills.
Ability to meet US employment eligibility requirements and PLCA eligibility requirements.

Physical Demands
Ability to repeatedly lift up to 40 pounds and repeatedly wheel carts with 100-pound loads in sun, heat and high humidity.

Training
Participate in training provided about emergency assistance, environmental and nature education and other personal enhancement opportunities recommended by the Beach Operations Manager.

Communication
This person must be proficient in English for purposes of management direction, job responsibility and third-party interaction.
Must have excellent interpersonal/communication and customer service skills - approachable, cheerful, helpful, etc.
Equipment Used
4-wheel all-terrain vehicle, two-way radios, beach carts, small water craft, pressure washer and landscaping equipment such as blowers, shovels, rakes, hoes, etc.
Work Environment
Private: Varies from mainland office to boats, boat docks, and 34-acre island Beach Park with small- and large-scale pavilions. Considerable interaction with co-workers, and residents.
Beach operations run 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Rangers need to be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
