The Supervisor, Logistics is responsible for overseeing and managing logistics operations. Supervises a team of logistics staff that involves monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Optimize operations, maintaining high standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, logistics staff, ensuring they meet performance standards and adhere to company policies. Provides leadership and strong organizational communication as well as problem-solving skills and has a deep understanding of logistics software and tools. This role will directly supervise logistics personnel.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Logistics and Regulations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with transportation regulations and industry standards for both international and domestic.
  • Conduct routine inspections to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assign tasks, monitor daily operations, and provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and coordinate employee schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Continuously analyze operational processes to identify opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline logistics workflows and align with company goals.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports on operational performance.
  • Analyze logistics data to identify trends and recommend strategic improvements.

Inventory And Process Improvements

  • Leverage data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive process improvements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of inventory, shipments, and other logistics activities.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and carriers to optimize supply chain performance.
  • Address any issues or bottlenecks in the logistics process, such as delays, damaged goods, or inventory discrepancies
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve logistical challenges such as shipment delays, product damage, or discrepancies.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders to provide updates and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Regularly share updates on team performance, project milestones, and strategic goals to all stakeholders

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software (e.g., WMS, ERP systems).
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience preferred in logistics
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCP, CLTD).
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with international shipping and customs procedures.

  • Flexible schedule required to address operational demands, including occasional weekends or holidays.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, for approving the proposal of pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.
  • Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican’s brand and reputation.
  • Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
  • Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The annual U.S. pay range for this position is listed below. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, 10 paid holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, company-paid life and disability plans, and matching 401k to eligible employees.
