What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Pelican State Credit Union?
The role of the Business Development Representative is to focus on securing, maintaining, and nurturing current and new business partnerships that we call Select Employer Group Partners (SEGs). Our Business Development Representatives attend and present at various events to our branch communities and focus on ensuring that our relationships and community outreach efforts will bring in new accounts to the credit union. They develop business and form relationships with contacts through indirect and direct sales channels. They track and report on all events and interactions with current and potential partners. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for serving others. Public speaking is a must! They should be comfortable working independently and as a contributing member of a team. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE INCLUDES:
- Contact and visit prospective members, dealers, merchants or SEG partners to present information on available services, such as deposit accounts, lines-of-credit, cash management, electronic banking, lending products, or investment services as appropriate
- Make presentations on financial services to groups to promote credit union products as needed
- Manage and maintain all current and prospective SEG Partners, merchants, and contacts assigned to your territory in department tracking tool and applicable reports
- Research the demographics of the area in which the credit union operates and determine population groups served by the credit union. Develop contact lists of potential new SEGs or members to reflect research
- Serve as the primary liaison and contact for the credit union’s existing SEGs and maintain all facets of the relationship
- Assist with planning and coordinating of special events including but not limited to chamber presentations, festival booths, marketing campaigns, and workshops
- 2-year college degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or a related field of study
- Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of meeting education requirements
- 1 year of experience with client relationships/management and business development
- Prior experience in a financial institution is a plus
- Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
- Strong public speaking and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
- The work schedule has the potential to fall outside of normal work hours to include weekends depending on SEG partner needs
- Travel
- Frequent and independent travel is required
- Reliable transportation is needed
- Work Site Location
- Work will be performed in an indoor office and outdoor settings at SEG partner locations with a variety of industries
- Home office is Pineville Branch at 3628 Monroe Highway 10, STE 124, Pineville, LA 71360
