What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Engineer II position at Pelican?
The Product Engineer II will create new product designs and project-manage them from ideation, materials selection, tooling, qualification testing, and production, including optimizing/troubleshooting of existing products. Interfaces will interface with team members specializing in New Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Marketing. Applies technical expertise and data-based judgment in evaluating complex issues and developing innovative solutions while working with our USA and overseas teams.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Creates detailed product designs and drawings using CAD software
Evaluates and selects appropriate materials for mechanical components.
Manages projects, including timelines, budgets, and documentation.
Collaborates with other engineers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Develops solutions to resolve technical problems and implement design improvements with both new and existing products.
Creates and executes test plans to verify product performance and reliability
Communicates technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet project goals
Collaborates effectively with vendors and customers on various projects.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 4-8 years of product development and project management experience.
Proficiency in 3D solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks and/or SolidEdge).
Demonstrable experience in injection-molded plastic product design, materials, tooling, and assembly methods. Additional experience with metal and electro-mechanical parts desired.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Salary : $96,000 - $105,000
