What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager - Technical Packaging position at Pelican?
Plans, directs, and coordinates the strategies and actions necessary to build Pelican business for case applications to Aerospace/Defense Contractors and military organizations through Pelican’s Dealer partners in Roto Molded and Injection Molded cases within assigned territory. Works with Director to determine the best “route to market”, whether direct, through current dealer network, or through new dealer. Also works with Director to develop forecasts, budgets, and to submit reports outlining the goals, activities, and progress within the assigned area.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops sales, product awareness, and penetration of Pelican custom applications for Roto Molded and Injection Molded cases.
Cultivates relationships with decision makers at key aerospace, defense and government organizations, prime military contractors/sub-contractors, and OEM´s.
Develops and maintains a sufficient sales pipeline (in the appropriate CRM database) to ensure appropriate level of opportunities are being worked on at all times.
Establishes new direct customers and works with existing client base to develop new business within assigned region.
Performs internet, catalogue or tradeshow research on potential clients and competitive products with emphasis on Aerospace/Defense Contractors, Sub-Contractors and Military/Defense organizations within assigned region.
Networks with internal manufacturing and operations personnel as appropriate to ensure timely delivery of projects. Proactively communicates project status to customers. Conducts formal contract reviews on defined projects.
Assists Finance and Operations Departments in resolving customer issues as needed.
Represents Pelican at appropriate trade shows involving, but not limited to, stand set-up/tear-down, recording leads, and providing product information within the assigned region. Finds competitive product information and studies the strategies of Pelican competition and reports this information back to Pelican management.
Assists with preparation of proposals and quotations as requested by customers and the Director.
Works with Director to develop forecasts, and to submit reports outlining the goals, activities, and progress within the assigned region.
Updates customer database (CRM) and documents customer-related activity.
Understands competitive products as applicable to the assigned market and able to answer comparative questions as appropriate.
Exposes Technical Packaging clients to Pelican’s line of advanced lighting systems and flashlights; refers interested parties to appropriate Sales Representative/Manager.
Manages Technical Packaging Dealer Partners(s) and other assigned staff as appropriate. Meets and develops relationships with Dealer/Pelican end user customers.
Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
Performs additional duties as assigned other duties as assigned by the Director.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering or comparable related subject.
Strong written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to communicate technical sales information clearly and concisely to sales staff, distributors/dealers, OEM’s and end-users.
Must be computer literate in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. SAP a benefit.
Excellent organizational skills.
Public speaking and presentation skills essential.
Ability to work closely with key members of Sales & Marketing teams.
Technical skills. Must understand how or possess the ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of Pelican products and the specifics of the market for them.
Must be able to travel within designated area on a regular basis, a minimum of 3 weeks per month.
Driver’s license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
